Counties
. The county borders
Mercer
County
on the north,
Butler
County
on the east,
Allegheny
County
on the southeast,
Washington
County
on the south, and the states of
Ohio
and
West Virginia
on the
west. The county is
located on the
Ohio
and
Beaver
Rivers
, which provided transportation for settlers and power
that
contributed to industrial growth.

biographical sketches of several

families. In general, the essays
indicate the principal subject's date and place
of birth, occupation, military service (if any),
