Up for grabs is this pair of Kansas History books "Rush County Kansas, A Century in Story and Pictures" and "Heritage of Kansas vol. 9" both from the year 1976 and in good condition..
The hardback, 265 page book "Rush County Kansas" is filled with many great black and white vintage photos from the counties early history in the 1870's through 1976 when this book was printed.. This book is very clean inside and out without any prior owner's signature/writing or flaws of any kind that I could find..
Book measures 8 1/2" x 11 1/4" with both covers in great shape and the binding being solid.. Book has sections on the cities of Alexander, Bison, La Crosse, Liebenthal, Loretto, McCracken, Hargrave, Nekoma, Otis, Rush Center, Timken and Schaffer, all located in Rush County, Kansas.. Chances are if you or your family were part of Rush County in it's first century, you could very well be mentioned in this book..
The smaller 93 page Paperback "Heritage of Kansas, Vol. 9" is a special edition covering the Volga Germans of Ellis and Rush counties in Kansas.. This book measures 6" x 9", and covers such things as the history, language, folk songs, food, beliefs and superstitions and religions of these early settlers.. This book also has many photos of churches and iron cross grave sites as well as a few maps of the area.. Both books sell for the one price and will be shipped USPS Media mail with tracking..
